Chapter One :Chapter 1

"Master Xu, it's time for your meal."

A servant was serving a bowl of spoiled food, with a look of distaste on his face.

He pushed open the worn-out door and placed the food on the table. He glanced at Xu Changge, seated in a wheelchair, sneering proudly, "Remember to eat it, the food today is actually quite good, you might need to hit the jackpot to have such good food next time."

The food, comparable to swill, reeked and was thoroughly disgusting.

Such rotten food made even the servants in the house feel nauseous.

The servant looked at Xu Changge with disgust, not wanting to stay a moment longer, quickly leaving the room.

"Exiling Xu Changge from the Xu family, to protect the family's interests, is the best choice."

This decision was made by the higher-ups of the Xu Family in Cloud Eastern City.

Xu Changge, the eldest son of the Xu family, was once a renowned prodigy who shook the world.

Five years ago, while Xu Changge, passionate and young, was embarking on a training journey, he offended a strong adversary and ended up crippled from the waist down. From that point on, Xu Changge plummeted, and the family relegated him to a corner of the backyard, no longer paying him any heed.

Xu Changge's father was the head of the Xu clan. He gave up on his son who had become disabled, remarried, and had a new child.

As for Xu Changge's mother, it was rumored that she died from childbirth complications when giving birth to him.

In such circumstances, only Xu Changge's fiancée, Liu Qing’er, did not abandon him.

Liu Qing’er wanted to fight for justice for Xu Changge and demanded answers from the Xu family's top brass: "Changge has sacrificed so much for the Xu family, why should the family treat him like this?"

The Xu family was originally a small clan, but because of Xu Changge's genius, he managed to obtain many resources for the clan, making it one of the top families in Cloud Eastern City.

Alas, Xu Changge has been crippled for five years, yet his family decided to expel him, a cause for regret.

"Interference in Xu family's affairs from outsiders such as yourself is not welcomed. Leave!"

Leaders of the Xu family scolded.

Although Liu Qing'er was Xu Changge's betrothed, they were not officially wedded, thus making her technically an outsider. For the past five years, she devotedly took care of Xu Changge without a word of complaint.

"Do you guys have no sense of guilt for what you're doing?"

A bitter Liu Qing'er inquired.

"Ancient Qing sect has been pressuring us, our family's interest must come first."

Five years ago, a disciple from the Ancient Qing sect caused a dispute with Xu Changge, leaving him crippled. Recently, in the hope of ingratiating the Xu family with the Ancient Qing sect, they decided to discard Xu Changge who used to have a grudge against them.

"Would Xu family have its status today without Changge?"

Liu Qing'er felt it was unjust for Xu Changge and was furious.

"Humph! The Xu family has taken care of him for five years, it's already an act of utmost kindness and righteousness."

"That’s right! Who asked him to provoke the disciple from the Ancient Qing sect? He got what was coming to him."

"Had it not been for the contributions Changge made to the family, we would have expelled him five years ago, why wait until now?”

The elders responded coldly.

No matter how Liu Qing'er pled or begged, the Xu family only had one response: "The decision is final and cannot be changed."

In the Xu family's backyard, inside a haphazardly built hut.

On the table lied some stale bread and leftovers; these are what he receives daily from his family. Even the most humble servants in the mansion would not consume these rancid meals.

Despite the occasional fresh food and care provided by Liu Qing'er, most of the time, Xu Changge would gnaw on stale bread, since Liu Qing'er saved every penny for Xu Changge's medical expenses.

At a designated time, servants from the mansion would bring the nauseating meals. Sometimes, Xu Changge would even spot worms wriggling in the food - a disgusting sight.

When a tree falls, the monkeys scatter. Everyone knew that Xu Changge had been discarded. Those with dark hearts would even take the chance to kick him whilst he was down.

When he found out that he had been expelled from his family, Xu Changge responded coldly before laughing sarcastically, "This is quite absurd!"

Xu Changge forcefully gripped the handles of his wheelchair with his fingers turning pale.

Just as Xu Changge was furious, a golden light broke through the layers of emptiness, piercing through barriers of time and space, and landed on Xu Changge.

Wham!

Xu Changge instantly fainted, and numerous fragmented memories began to appear in his mind.

Half an hour later, when Xu Changge opened his eyes again, they were incredibly profound, and his demeanor had subtly changed: "I'm back, truly back…"

The golden light that had penetrated Xu Changge was, in fact, fragments of his memories from a previous life. With these fragments, Xu Changge had seemingly transformed into another person.

In his previous life, Xu Changge was the pride of a holy land, who cut through thorns and thistles, transcended an era, and ultimately ascended to the top of the myriad realms to become an emperor.

"There’s plenty of time before the Epoch of Endless Night. Everything is still manageable."

When he realized that he was back before the Epoch of Endless Night, Xu Changge was overjoyed. During the Epoch of Endless Night, creatures from another chaotic world invaded Xu Changge's world, causing destruction and chaos. Even though Xu Changge, alongside other strong people, fought against the intruders, they failed to alter the situation.

During the final great war of the Polar Night Era, Xu Changge had a deadly battle with several foreign invaders, using his precious artifact from a past life - the Linglong Tower, to sacrifice himself and take down the enemies with him.

Unexpectedly, when Xu Changge awoke again, he found himself back to the time before the Polar Night Era.

"This is…" Xu Changge was not possessing another body. He himself had been reborn into this era and only today did his memory fully awaken. All of this was because of the Linglong Tower in his body: "The Linglong Tower has actually been reborn with me."

It took many years for the Linglong Tower to absorb enough spiritual energy to awaken Xu Changge's memory.

During the Polar Night Era, countless creatures died, and the human race became the plaything of powerful foreign enemies, with billions of creatures dying tragically. The thought of such scenes stirred the flames of anger in Xu Changge's heart.

The Linglong Tower is a treasure that contains the law of time, and the Xu Changge of his previous life had not been able to fully study it.

With the arrival of the Polar Night, all things were annihilated. If he could go back this time, Xu Changge would not repeat his past mistakes.

"Driving me out of the family is fine," Xu Changge had completely lost hope in the Xu Family.

At this moment, someone barged in.

"Under the family's order, Master Changge, please move out of the Xu family,"

A richly dressed man, showing no respect, looked at Xu Changge who was seated in a wheelchair. This man was Wang Qianren, the captain of the Xu family's guard.

For years, all of Xu Changge's logistics had been arranged by Wang Qianren. That is to say, it was Wang Qianren who maliciously arranged for someone to deliver stinky food every day and used various ways to make life difficult for Xu Changge.

Upon hearing of this, the upper echelons of the family remained silent and even tacitly agreed.

Eight years ago, Wang Qianren was struggling outside, being bullied. Later, he met Xu Changge and luckily became a servant in the Xu Family, therefore he did not starve to death. Wang Qianren had some talent and fortunately became a member of the protection team after several years of cultivation.

After a recent family discussion, Wang Qianren was designated as the captain of the guard, holding considerable authority.

"I see."

Xu Changge gave Wang Qianren a quick sidelong glance, serene as still waters.

"Master Changge, you have at most three days to pack. If you're still here after three days, don't blame me for my ruthlessness," Wang Qianren sneered.

"A mere poseur."

Xu Changge cast a cold look at Wang Qianren.

"You!" Wang Qianren's expression shifted, he pointed at Xu Changge. A while later, a cold smirk appeared on Wang Qianren's face. "Once you step out of the Xu family, it's a dangerous world out there. Be very careful."

"Back then, when you violated the family rules, I ordered people to flog you fifty times and spared you from being expelled from the clan. Rather than being grateful, you turned resentful, a true ingrate."

Six years ago, Wang Qianren suffered a severe flogging for violating the family rules. It was Xu Changge who ordered the punishment. Despite accepting the punishment on the surface, Wang Qianren had held a grudge deep down.

Not until Xu Changge became physically disabled and his cultivation greatly declined, did Wang Qianren express this, constantly belittling and mocking.

"In three days, I will personally see you off," Wang Qianren coldly huffed, showing no appreciation of Xu Changge's earlier leniency, only remembering the punishment he received at Xu Changge's hands.

Then, Wang Qianren turned around and left.

"Get out!"

How should Xu Changge handle this situation?
